The Great Globe Foundation

The Great Globe Foundation uses the power of the arts to inspire the voices of youth + artists throughout the world in creating their own opportunities and platforms for positive personal and community change through education and arts engagement.

Past collaborations have included partnerships with UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), US State Department, Filmaid International, Save the Children, Real Life Poets, the Open Program of the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotwoski and Thomas Richards, and Freestyle Love Supreme Academy.

Currently, The Great Globe Foundation runs programs in Nairobi, Kenya supporting youth in creative education and sponsors the Academy of the Unfulfilled’s work in Italy and beyond.

The Dadaab Theater Project

The Dadaab Theater Project was created by Michael Littig and Julianna Bloodgood of The Great Globe Foundation in partnership with Filmaid International with support by UNHCR, Save the Children, and the US Department of State. There are several goals we worked towards. Most importantly, we wanted to create a self-sustaining arts education curriculum within the Dadaab refugee camps. In our work, we use theatrical facilitation as a tool for communication, expression, transformation, and healing; we wanted to inspire and guide the refugee youth in creating their own opportunities and platforms for positive personal and community change. This work has continued for the past decade, and classes are currently conducted with urban refugees living in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

Real Global Poets

Real Global Poets (RGP) is a collaborative effort between Real Life Poets (RLP) and The Great Globe Foundation’s (GGF) Dadaab Theatre Project. RGP aimed to give a voice to young Kenyans and youth in Alabama using poetry to express experiences and feelings. Over the past six years, RGP has published three separate anthologies of poetry and exchanges between students in the US + refugees in Kenya.

The Academy of the Unfulfilled

Since 2013, The Great Globe Foundation partnered with the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards Open Program on multiple performance and teaching actions globally which has now transitioned to collaborations with the Academy of the Unfulfilled.

This collaboration included partnerships with West Park Presbyterian Church in New York city, Andrew Freedman Home in the Bronx, The Hippodrome Theater in Florida, Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Gainesville, FL, the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA), and multiple engagements in South America, Europe, and the Middle East.
